Located on the North side of the city of Rhinelander, this flowage offers
many excellent fishing opportunities. Along with the main lake basins,
this body of water is attached to 15 miles of the Wisconsin River that is
navigable by a good sized rig. Shoreline structure is abundant and diverse
in the lakes. Fish relate more to the channel in the river. This
fishery is excellent for all the above species.
The Wisconsin River has a number of slough like areas where
one can duck out of the current and catch any number of the above species.
The current areas and turns provide cover and food for the cool water species.
The wild rice areas and scenic beauty add to the pleasure of the great fishing.
Caution and good judgment must be used when navigating the river. There
are many homes a short distance from the channels and the river is not very wide
in some areas. Good boating etiquette is a must in this area.
Boom Lake and the backwaters are also home to many waiting toothy critters.
